Hello fellow crafters, makers, and DIY-ers! Welcome to my site (beverlypayne.com) and my blog (Payne & Simple)!
You can find information, tutorials, and courses on a variety of crafts and DIY projects, along with the occasional reflective article here. I focus primarily on paper crafting, jewelry-making, and DIY projects (inside and outside the home), but sometimes you might find a gardening or sewing post, too!
If you like crafting and DIY projects, you’ll feel right at home here.

Making Is A Process
I show you my in-progress works, my fails (so, so many) (AKA my not yets), and my successes, so you can be more confident when you begin your next project.
This site is for creative and crafty people who enjoy learning about new topics and ideas and using that information to create something wonderful and beautiful. This site is for those who like to find multiple uses for things found around the home.
It is for those who like to make things.
I will provide you with inspiration and step-by-step tutorials for completing similar projects.
Always An Educator
I am a writer. I am a lifelong teacher and maker. I always have a project of some sort going on. Okay – full disclosure time – I have multiple projects going on all the time!
I am crazy curious about how things are made. I am interested in learning new techniques or trying my hand at something new.
Often I have too many interests competing for my time. Does this sound like you, too?
I have a full-time, rewarding, but sometimes stressful career in education. (I blog about education at centralmatters.com and at medium.com/@beverlypayne05 ).
My maker studio projects help me to decompress. I am a weekend maker most of the time. I bet many of you have similar situations!
Are your days full? Between church, family, and work, do you have little time for figuring out how to create a craft you’ve been admiring? I know I have felt like this many times!
By the time I read up on how to design and make something and gather all the materials, the weekend is gone! Here at beverlypayne.com, I want to help you by providing simple, easy to follow tutorials and instructions.
So come learn along with me when I tackle a new project.
I have always crafted, always made things, but I rarely shared my creations.
But that began to change when others complimented me on my work and wanted to know how I made something.
Now, I want to teach you how to create some of the same projects that bring me joy!
