How To Create A Fabulous Book Page Wreath

February 5, 2022 by Beverly Payne

Are you a book lover?  Me, too!  I love to read.  Sometimes, though, I think I just have too many books, but I just can’t bear to get rid of them.  So I am turning them into craft projects like today’s book page wreath!

You can find a printable with step-by-step instructions and photos in my Maker Library.  All of my projects and patterns can be found there and they are all free!  Join here.

What Kinds Of Books Can I Use For A Book Page Wreath?

Really, you can use just about any kind of book!  I like to think in terms of themes when deciding what kind of book page wreath to make.

For example, maybe you have lots of well-loved and well-read children’s books.  Your children are older now, but the books hold a lot of memories for you.  Turn the books into a book page wreath.  It will look great in your child’s room or in a game room.

What I like about this theme is that children’s books often have wonderful and colorful illustrations which will add another dimension to your project.

Another example is a book page wreath you can use in the kitchen.  Do you have lots of old cookbooks in your kitchen?  If so, turn some of the ones you no longer use or that are falling apart into a wreath.  What a unique decoration to have in your kitchen!

So what book did I choose?

I have a lot of books left from when I was a doctoral student, so I chose a book on how to write a dissertation.  It is definitely not a book I plan to re-read, and it was also one that would be more trouble than it was worth to try to re-sell.

I also thought it would be a great way to commemorate that chapter (see what I did there?) of my life!

For your convenience, I included affiliate links which means I may make a commission, but it won’t cost you any more.  Read my entire disclosure here.

Watch me make a book page wreath:

Basic Steps On How To Create A Fab Book Page Wreath

Begin your book page wreath by tearing pages out of your chosen book.  Don’t worry about getting a nice edge–just rip away!

For a 12-inch wreath form, you will need approximately 60 pages.  The wreath has two layers, and I used 37 pages on the bottom layer.  The top layer takes about 20 pages.

NOTE:  If you are making a book page wreath with a children’s book, you may need several books in order to have enough pages.

After tearing the pages from the book, set 20 pages aside for the top layer.

Now, with the pages remaining for the bottom layer begin forming cones.  To form a cone, begin rolling the page from the bottom corner.  Secure the cone with hot glue.

Glue each cone onto the wreath form.  The pointy end of the cone will be facing the inside of the wreath form.

Top Layer

To create the top layer, first, take the 20 pages you set aside earlier and cut them in half horizontally.  Then roll cones with each half just as you did for the bottom layer.

Once you have the cones rolled, hot glue each one on top of and BETWEEN the cones of the bottom layer.

An Embellishment Option For Your Book Page Wreath

I like the wreath with just the pages.  A simple wreath is often the most beautiful.  But, of course, you can snazz it up with a ribbon.

Another way to gussy up the wreath is to add an inner wreath of layered paper flowers.  If you like this look, I show you how to do it in How To Make Beautiful Layered Paper Flowers Even If You’ve Never Made Them Before.  You can also find step-by-step instructions in my Maker Library.

Takeaway

Truly, this is one project which needs minimal supplies.  You probably have everything you need already.

  • Choose your book
  • Rip out the pages
  • Roll pages into cones
  • Glue onto the wreath form
