Since my scrap fabric autumn wreath turned out so well a few weeks ago, I thought I would try my hand at a fall deco mesh wreath!
Have you ever made a deco mesh wreath? I had never made a deco mesh wreath before, but I really enjoyed putting this one together.
Advantages To A Fall Deco Mesh Wreath
I can think of a lot of pros to making a fall deco mesh wreath. Some of those pros are:
- Quick to make
- Deco mesh is relatively inexpensive
- Can customize easily
- Lightweight
Another thing that I like about this wreath is its versatility. While I hung my wreath on the door, I think this would also look great as part of an autumn or Thanksgiving tablescape. I may have to try it on my table on turkey day!
Disadvantages
Honestly, I can only think of one downside to making this fall deco mesh wreath. Depending on the size of your wreath frame, you might need a lot of deco mesh!

Do you know what else I loved about this fall deco mesh wreath project? It was a fast make! As easy as my scrap fabric wreath was, it took a long time to tie all those strips of fabric!
But this wreath came together quite quickly. It’s a perfect project if you are short on time, but you need a great fall wreath!
Here’s how to do pull together this fall deco mesh wreath.
Form The Deco Mesh Base
To start, use a zip tie or floral wire to attach the end of the deco mesh to the wreath frame. I like to start my deco mesh between the first and second inner wires of the frame at one of the cross braces.
So the next part involves loops and twists. Pull a loop of deco mesh through the first and second wires and twist. Make another loop between the second and third wires and twist. Now make a third loop between the third and fourth wire and twist.
Repeat this process all the way around the wreath frame.
When your roll of orange fall deco mesh runs out, attach the end of the mesh to the frame with another zip tie or with a floral wire. Then attach the green fall deco mesh to the frame.
Once the green deco mesh is attached to the frame, form a loop and twist between two wires. Repeat through the other wires until the roll of green deco mesh runs out.
Finish the deco mesh by adding the final roll of orange, following the same loop and twist technique described above.
My wreath took 15 yards of deco mesh – 10 yards of orange (2 rolls) and 5 yards of green (1 roll).
Add Autumn Leaves
I like to lay the leaves on the wreath, then move them around to see where I like them best. Once I have decided exactly where I want them, I glue them to the wreath.
Use the hot glue gun to attach the leaves to the deco mesh.
Make A Bow
I really like the bows that are made from several layers of ribbon. I love to use burlap with my fall decor, so I use burlap as the base of my bow. Next, I add a layer of netting, then a layer of polka dot ribbon, and then finish with another layer of netting.
Cut each of these ribbons about 12 inches long. If your wreath frame is smaller or larger than 14-inches, then you will need to adjust the length of the ribbon accordingly.
Cinch the layer of ribbons together in the middle and secure with a zip tie (or floral wire).
Next, I cover the zip tie with two layers of narrow ribbon. First, I tie a 6-inch strip of leaf ribbon around the ribbon. Make sure to cover the zip tie.
Now add a final narrow ribbon – I used a ribbon with a fall sentiment printed on it. I tied it over the leaf ribbon.
Then, using floral wire, attach the ribbon to the wreath. Snake the floral wire through the deco mesh to the back of the wreath form. To secure, twist the ends of the wire around the wreath frame.
If you plan to hang the wreath on the door or wall, add a hanging loop to the back of the wreath with the floral wire.
Add Berry Embellishments To Finish Your Fall Deco Mesh Wreath
The last step is to take one of the berry picks and insert it on the bow. Fan the berries a bit.
Now, take another berry pick and add it to the wreath by weaving it through the deco mesh.
Add a third berry pick to the deco mesh wreath on the opposite side.
And it’s done!
